VPN VPS/VDS Hosting

Run your own VPN instead of renting a seat on someone else's. A KVM VPS with root access, a dedicated IPv4 address and a 10 Gbps port is all WireGuard or OpenVPN needs — and the keys, the logs and the exit address stay yours.

10 Gbps network

Up to a 10 Gbps link for your transfers, your backups and your traffic peaks.

Software

Three ways to run a VPN on your own server

None of them are pre-installed: you get a clean Linux system with root access and you choose. Here is what each one is good at, and what it asks of the machine.

WireGuard

Fastest to set up, fastest to run

WireGuard runs inside the Linux kernel and its entire configuration fits in a single wg0.conf file. It reconnects instantly when a phone switches from Wi-Fi to mobile data, which is what makes it comfortable to leave on all day.

VPS Mini is enough for a handful of devices: throughput is bounded by the 10 Gbps port, not by the CPU.

OpenVPN

Gets through restrictive networks

Over TCP on port 443, OpenVPN looks like ordinary HTTPS traffic, so it still works on hotel, airport and corporate networks that drop everything else. It also handles certificates, user accounts and two-factor authentication, so a single person's access can be revoked without touching anyone else's.

Encryption runs in userspace and is CPU-bound: budget 2 vCPU, so VPS Starter, from around ten concurrent users.

Pritunl

A web console on top of both

Pritunl adds what the two protocols deliberately leave out: a browser admin panel, user accounts, organisations and one-click certificate revocation. If the VPN is for colleagues rather than for you alone, it saves editing a config file every time someone joins or leaves.

It keeps its state in MongoDB, so give it room: VPS Starter, with 4 GB of RAM and 25 GB of NVMe, is a sensible floor.

What a VPN actually asks of a server

A VPN is not a heavy workload, but it is demanding in four specific places. These are the ones that decide whether the tunnel feels transparent.

Bandwidth, not cores

Every byte your devices send crosses the server twice, inbound and outbound. The monthly traffic allowance — 15 TB on VPS Mini, up to 120 TB on VPS Ultimate — is your real ceiling, well before the CPU is.

A dedicated IPv4 address

Each VPS carries its own IPv4 address, shared with nobody. That address is what the rest of the internet sees while you are connected, which is the whole reason for hosting the VPN yourself.

Anti-DDoS on the endpoint

A VPN endpoint is one publicly reachable address, so it is exposed by design. Anti-DDoS protection is included on every plan at no extra charge, with no option to tick.

Root access and your own kernel

WireGuard is a kernel module. KVM virtualisation gives each VPS a kernel of its own, so you can load it, rebuild it or replace the network stack — none of which container-based virtualisation allows.

Your own VPN, and where the limits are

A commercial VPN subscription puts your traffic behind an address shared with thousands of strangers, on infrastructure whose logging policy you take on trust. A VPN on your own VPS inverts both: the exit address belongs to you, and the only logging is the logging you configure. The real uses are mundane, and that is the point — reaching an office network from a laptop, pinning a fixed IP to an admin panel, encrypting a connection on a network you do not control.

One limit is worth stating plainly, because it decides whether this page is for you: our fair use policy does not allow open public proxies, public VPN relays, connectivity resale or unauthorised transit. A VPN for yourself, your team or your company is exactly what these machines are for. A VPN service resold to the public is not.

Network transparency

Test our network before you order

Ping, MTR and traceroute run live on our network, over IPv4 and IPv6. Measure the route from your own connection - before you pay.

Ping
Round-trip time, 4 ICMP packets
MTR
Packet loss and latency, hop by hop
Traceroute
Full path to the target

Same machines, same locations, same control panel — only the software you install on top changes. If your project sits between two of these pages, any of the plans above will run it.

Frequently asked questions

Protocols, capacity, locations and what the fair use policy allows.

No. You get a clean Linux system with root access and install WireGuard, OpenVPN or Pritunl yourself, usually in a few minutes since all three publish one-line install scripts. Nothing is locked down, and you can reinstall the operating system from the client area at any time and start over.
